Largely fully automated and efficiency-focused picking processes, handling up to three-quarters of a million picks per month (picks per storage location), ensure that PAPSTAR can fulfil all order and dispatch types on a ‘just-in-time’ basis.
The logistics centre in D-53925 Kall boasts a state-of-the-art infrastructure with 70,000 pallet spaces and 100,000 additional box spaces.
At the heart of the entire PAPSTAR Group is the fully automated central and high-bay warehouse, conveniently located on the 130,000-square-metre company site in the North Rhine-Westphalian part of the Eifel, in D-53925 Kall (Euskirchen district), which ensures the entire product range is available for delivery at all times – every day and across the whole of Europe.
Via various order acceptance channels, 22,000 orders are processed each month; the total shipment weight amounts to approximately 2,600 tonnes. Delivery is handled by the company’s own fleet, external hauliers or parcel delivery services.
To systematically identify potential sources of accidents and implement preventive measures, PAPSTAR regularly conducts workplace safety inspections (carried out by internal and external specialists). As a result, the accident rate has been significantly reduced in recent years, particularly in the warehouse area.
The measures taken include the provision of personal protective equipment, safety training and collaboration with an internal safety committee, as well as health insurance providers and the company doctor.
Sustainability has many facets – and even more areas where action can be taken. Take ‘packaging padding’, for example: in the CEP sector (courier, express and parcel services), all plastic film is avoided. Instead, used cardboard boxes are given a second life before they are finally sent for recycling as waste paper by the recipient of the parcel.
DEKRA Certification GmbH certifies that PAPSTAR GmbH has implemented and maintains an environmental management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 at its Kall site (Daimlerstraße 4-8), in line with the standard specified in the certificate reference for the area of ‘Sales, logistics management and services for non-food product concepts’. DIN stands for the German Institute for Standardisation, EN for European Standard and ISO for the International Organization for Standardization. This has been verified by audit report number A24011475.
